General informations
The wines
Shiraz Australian wineThe best known Australian wine is Shiraz , a rich, structured and full red, also produced in the south of France, which here, however, expresses itself with a power and full of spicy aromas. Shiraz, as well as Cabernet, are aged in barriques for about two years.

Excellent wines are also produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and from the white Chardonnay, Sémillon and Colombard, often aged in French or American barriques between six and twelve months.

pairing
Much appreciated in Australia is the meat cooked on the grill, generally steaks but also kangaroo or crocodile meat, which combine well in the kitchen for example with Shiraz. The dishes based on crustaceans mainly present in the coastal area go well with white wines, such as Chardonnay, Sémillon and Colombard. See Matching wine food .
